Description

Grossular Garnet, a Garnet group that includes Tsavorite (from Kenya) and African Green Garnet (from Mali), is a calcium aluminium silicate with a hardness of 7 to 7.5. Its name is derived from the Latin word for gooseberries, because of the similarity of the colors of the berries and certain light-green Grossular Garnet.
