Description

Beryllonite is a sodium beryllium phosphate mineral with a hardness of 5.5 to 6. It is usually colorless or white, sometimes a pale yellow. Its crystal system is hexagonal (trigonal). Crystals can be prismatic and usually have striations along the body, similar to Tourmaline. Beryllonite is a relatively rare material. It occurs in Maine in the USA, as well as in Brazil, Africa and Afghanistan.
