Description

Datolite is a calcium borosilicate mineral with a hardness of 5 to 5.5. Its crystal system is monoclinic. The mineral forms in short prismatic crystals of high variability or in granular, porcelain-like masses. It can be colorless, white, pale yellow or pale green. Sometimes impurities can tint it pink, reddish or brown. May of the best Datolite specimens come from Russia and are yellow-greenish in color.
